Score Analysis

The focus repertoire for the mandatory HSC Music 2 I chose was ‘In Memoriam: Concerto for Amplified Cello and Orchestra’ by Matthew Hindson (2000).

Issue with the score is that it is in A3, so it is expensive/difficult to copy to provide annotations directly to the score. Also, I was yet to come across an electronic score. This raised a few issues with challenges, such as having to write the score within Sibelius 7 to provide an electronic version. However since within the unit of work we would be looking at multiple sections from the movement I. Lament, that would be ridiculously time consuming and rather unproductive. As such I created a document with the technique, which instrument and bar number. This way while analysing the score with students you would be able to quickly identify key concepts within the piece from the document. This resource is a teacher’s aid rather than directly for the student. So while there is no full score in Sibelius 7 or an electronic score, the teacher still wouldn’t have to analyse  the score to find which elements they would want to teach before each lesson.
